How many of you would support Home Schooling for your child? If yes why and if not why?

Is a situation where a teenager has been getting picked on since they started school, have tried counseling, and now the problem has stemmed into school related depression call for home schooling. I need a second opinion. An article or web address would be great, but first hand expiriences are good too.

I would like to begin home schooling for my child have no idea where to begin can anyone help

I live in Virginia, I want home schooling, or I want to get emancipation and drop out, because I have the requirements of the emancipation process, I’d rather get an education, but I do not want to be in the alternative school that I am in now.
What are the requirements for home schooling and how do you get it?

Thanks to everyone who answered. I am a father of 2 but currently living in South Korea, which does not have such a great educational system. I began teaching the basics to my kids aged 5 and 7 instead of kindergarten, and am looking for some basic guidelines.

This generation is more advanced in the academics department than my generation. I wasn’t taught things the same way they teach students now. Would that become a problem if I was to have my children home schooled? I was also wondering where is the best place to look for information on home schooling?

I am writing a ten page paper on home schooling. It is for college. It has to do with Home schooled students receive a more specialized education that is better suited to their individual needs than public school educated students. My daughter is planning on Home Schooling her daughter. Does anybody know of any good websites that would help her to plan the curriculum and ones that have work pages that she can print. My grand-daughter is 4 years old right now and is already doing and enjoying Kindergarten work.
To respond to digitalgimpling………Possibly because so many children are coming out of high school without a high school education. Many can’t read or spell properly and are not prepared for moving on to college. These children were taught by someone with a “degree in TEACHING”! I also never stated that my daughter didn’t have a degree in teaching. She does have a degree and my sister (also a teacher for the past 12 years) will be helping her. My daughter also intends to make sure that her daughter is involved in other activities and also a Charter School, to ensure that her daughter will learn socialization skills and also learn to work with others. Home Schooling is not a “Crock” it is an alternative to an education system that doesn’t always work very well.

My Mom is trying to find out how to start a school so she can paid money for home-schooling my sister and I. How do you do that? Does anybody know? She’s been looking online but can’t figure anything out. Help?
