I would like to know if there is an agency that holds parents accountable for their childs education or do they just simply allow them to call it home schooling when the kids are out running the streets all day long. I know several of them who cannot read, write or do simple math problems and it really angers me to see these kids being left to their own supervision to run the streets and learn how to cheat on their on-line studies. I would like to know if there is someone I can call to report these things about these children? Thank you.
I know that because they are in a group that I am involved in that I have witnessed them not being able to read at age 15 beyond 1st grade level and at age 12 unable to do simple math problems like subtraction.
Also in regards as to how I know they are running the streets. A few of them don’t even have parental supervison at all during the day while parent is at work. Also, as far as cheating on the on-line test, she confessed it to myself and a few of her friends. I realize this is a dangerous claim, I want to know who holds these people accountable. I have spoken to the parents and there is no change.

Is there a minimum amount of hours that need to be taught at a home school? Minimum amount of classes, subjects, etc?

I’m just curious since I don’t know anything about home schooling. I went to private schools when I was a child.
This question is purely out of curiousity. I don’t have any kids to home school at this point.

We are thinking of starting our children in a home schooling program this fall. My concern, first of all, is can they receive a diploma upon graduation from 12th grade, or if we make one ourselves for them, will it be as valid as one from a public school? And secondly, and my main concern, will they be able to use the diploma that they do have or their home schooling records to get into college. How do colleges select home schoolers and what basis do they use? If anyone can help me in this, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

I will start home schooling my 7 year old autistic son next week. There is so much info on the internet, I am overwhelmed. Can someone give me a starting point? I’ve been looking for curriculum kits and trying to figure out a daily schedule. Any ideas?

I asked yesterday about home schooling— my husband and I have been talking about it a lot and I have been talking to my friends about it. Also a women from Church used to be an evaluator.

Today a 2nd grader told my 6 yr old son that he was going to “kill him” at recess. That is the last straw for me. I cannot let my children be exposed to abuse like that.

I am wondering what you all find to be the most challenging aspect of home schooling and how you work it out.
